On Netflix, search "Doctor X: Mafia in White". Searching "Age of the White Mafia" may not find it. Netflix files it as a "Limited Series" in its Top 10, so there's no season 2 implied by the listing. Neither SBS nor Netflix has announced one.

What's it about? (No spoilers)

Gye Su-jeong is a freelance surgeon placed at Guseo University Hospital to fill a vacancy. She is very good at her job and has no interest in the hospital's internal politics. The "white mafia" of the title is the tangle of faculty factions, favours and cover-ups she keeps running into. SBS has pitched it as a medical noir that belongs to the same broadcaster's lineage as Taxi Driver, mixing case-of-the-week surgery with a longer story about institutional rot.

How Doctor X compares with this autumn's other dramas

The Korea Times framed the October weekend race as a two-horse contest between Kim Ji-won's Doctor X and Kim You-jung's 100 Days of Deception. JTBC's cooking drama Final Table opened at 1.9%, a weak start by comparison.

What replaces Doctor X

From Friday, November 20, SBS's Friday–Saturday 9:50 p.m. slot goes to Good Partner 2: 16 episodes, with Jang Na-ra returning as divorce lawyer Cha Eun-kyung, now running her own firm, and Kim Hye-yoon joining as a new partner. Unlike Doctor X, it's on Netflix in Korea only. Most international viewers should look on Viki or Viu, depending on region.

12 episodes at about 70 minutes each comes to roughly 14 hours, two long weekends. If you watch episodes 1–8 now, the last four can be watched live across November 6–14.

Is it worth starting this late?

Yes. Twelve episodes is a short commitment, and the case-of-the-week structure makes the first few episodes easy to binge. If you start this weekend with episodes 1–8 on Netflix, you'll be caught up for the November 6 broadcast. If you prefer finished shows, wait until November 14 and watch it over two weekends.
